Precise Preparation for Enhanced Quality and Storage
Engineered for the Future | Since 2080
The ADDAMS Optimum Pre-Cleaner series is engineered to provide the essential first stage of processing for all cereals, maize, oilseeds, and pulses. Unlike basic rough cleaning, ADDAMS pre-cleaning technology is capable of separating admixtures that are smaller, larger, and lighter than the main seed, ensuring the highest level of protection for downstream drying, storage, and processing equipment.
By removing chaff, straw, and light grains before they enter the main line, these machines prevent blockages, reduce wear on secondary machinery, and significantly improve the efficiency of the drying process. With capacities ranging from 5 to 100 t/h, ADDAMS offers a versatile range of Flat Screen, Rotary Drum, and Vibratory cleaners to suit any facility scale.
Optimum Pre-Cleaner Overview
High-Capacity Versatility and Flow Control
The ADDAMS Flat Screen Optimum series is a versatile infrastructure component designed for high-throughput intake. Utilizing a screening area of 5 to 15 m² in conjunction with a sophisticated aspiration system, these machines prepare the raw harvest for long-term storage or final processing.
Advanced Aspiration Integration
Every Optimum Pre-Cleaner features effective pre-suction and after-suction systems. These dual units extract light impurities such as empty kernels and dust at the very beginning and end of the cleaning cycle, ensuring that only clean, aerated product leaves the machine.
Key Features of the OPTIMUM Pre-Cleaners
-
Full-Width Shaker Feeder: Features infinitely variable adjustment via a separate control panel to ensure a uniform flow over the entire screen width, optimizing air cleaning and capacity.
-
Intelligent Feed Roller: Includes an adjustable capacity shutter and speed control, protected by a spring-loaded safety device against damage from stones or large impurities.
-
Separate Pre- and Post-Suction: Two independent air units that can be easily integrated into existing central aspiration systems due to their low air volume requirements.
-
Recirculating Post-Suction Unit: Extracts lightweight particles such as husks and empty kernels, featuring an integrated exhaust unit that aerates the final clean product.
-
Advanced Screen Box Technology: Constructed from moisture-resistant plywood or metal, approved for food-grade use. Plywood construction reduces resonance for a quieter working environment.
-
Changeable Screen Inclination: Allows operators to adjust capacity and cleaning intensity by changing screen hangers, enabling the machine to serve as a pre-cleaner, industrial cleaner, or fine cleaner.
-
Self-Cleaning Ball Box: Cast in one piece to prevent trapped seeds, utilizing food-grade rubber balls to keep screens clear without needing to remove the box for screen changes.
-
Mechanical Stability: Balanced eccentric systems with counterweights and Rosta suspension units ensure smooth running and prevent the transmission of vibrations to the building.
Applications of Pre-Cleaning Systems
Grain and Cereal Terminals
High-speed pre-cleaning for wheat, maize, barley, and rye to ensure safe storage in silos.
Seed Processing and Certification
Initial sorting of sunflower, pulses, and vegetable seeds to remove large contaminants before grading.
Animal Feed and Bioenergy
Preparing soybeans, maize, and rice husks for grinding, pelletizing, or briquetting by removing stones and light waste.
Food and Beverage Intake
Cleaning chickpeas, rice, and lentils to protect downstream roasting and polishing equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions – Pre-Cleaners
How is a pre-cleaner different from a rough cleaner?
A rough cleaner only removes very large trash (straw and stones). An ADDAMS Pre-Cleaner is more precise; it separates light admixtures, dust, and seeds that are both larger and smaller than the main product.
Can I change the machine’s purpose later?
Yes. By changing the screen inclination (via the hangers) and the screen types, the machine can be converted from a high-capacity pre-cleaner into an industrial cleaner or even a fine cleaner.
Does the machine vibrate the building?
No. Our machines use a balanced eccentric system with counterweights and Rosta rubber suspension. This setup cancels out most vibrations, protecting the steel structures and buildings they are mounted on.
Is the feeding system prone to blockages?
The Full-Width Shaker Feeder is designed to be self-cleaning. It is especially gentle on fragile seeds like paddy rice or pulses and ensures a uniform flow that prevents inlet blockages.
How are light impurities removed from the air?
The system uses a recirculating post-suction unit and mini-cyclones. Dust and light waste are continuously discharged via screw conveyors, while fresh air is aerated through the clean product to remove any remaining particles.
What is the advantage of plywood screen boxes?
Plywood (Swedotex film) is moisture and insect-resistant. It also offers much better resonance absorption than metal, making the machine quieter and creating a better working environment for operators.
