Rotary Drum Screening for Seed Cleaning and Size Separation

ADDAMS Rotary Fine Seed Cleaners use cylindrical screening to separate suitable material by size. The intended cleaning duty, screen arrangement and required product fractions must be defined for the crop. Fine cleaning, intake pre-cleaning and grading have different performance targets and should be evaluated at their own feed rates and impurity conditions.

Select Screens for the Required Fractions

Representative samples should include the main crop and expected contaminants. Screen perforation, product dimensions, moisture and feed consistency affect separation. Trials should assess the main product, oversize, undersize and sound seed lost with the rejected fractions. Similar-sized contaminants may require another separation method.

Drum sections, outlets, adjustment options and any aspiration arrangement must be confirmed for the chosen model. Changing a screen alone does not establish an air-cleaning function. For seed production, mechanical damage and any required germination tests should form part of the evaluation.

Compare Cleaning and Grading Options

For intake duties, review the rotary pre-cleaner. Compare the fine seed cleaner and super fine seed cleaner for alternative cleaning arrangements. Where the main requirement is size classification, review the cylindrical screen graders.

Length-based separation may be considered with an indented cylinder separator. The appropriate combination depends on the physical differences between the crop and unwanted material.
