Traditional Grinding Precision for Whole Grains, Pulses, and Natural Flour Production
Engineered for the Future | Since 2080
The ADDAMS Stone Mill brings time-honored milling craftsmanship into the modern era. Designed for low-speed, cold grinding, it gently processes whole grains, seeds, pulses, and spices into high-quality, nutrient-rich flours. This natural stone grinding technology preserves flavor, aroma, and nutritional content, making it the preferred solution for clean-label and artisanal food production.
Ideal for organic flour milling, natural ingredient processing, and traditional food production lines, the ADDAMS Stone Mill ensures an authentic grinding experience with modern reliability and consistency. By avoiding the high-heat friction typical of steel rollers, our stone mills keep the “heart” of the grain—the germ and bran—intact and biologically active.

Operating Principle: Cold Stone Grinding
Preservation of Nutrient Density and Flavor
The Stone Mill operates on a simple yet effective principle where grain is fed between a stationary bottom stone and a rotating top stone.
-
Grain Intake: Raw material is fed into the center of the stones. Gravity and centrifugal force move the grain outward toward the grinding grooves (furrows).
-
Cold Grinding: The stones rotate at a low RPM, generating minimal heat. This prevents the oxidation of delicate oils and preserves vitamins and enzymes.
-
Shearing and Crushing: The unique pattern carved into the stones shears the grain rather than smashing it, resulting in a superior flour texture that retains all parts of the whole grain.
-
Discharge: The ground flour is discharged from the periphery of the stones into the collection chute, ready for sifting or packaging.

Frequently Asked Questions – Stone Mill
Why is stone-milled flour considered better than roller-milled flour?
Stone milling is a cold process. Modern roller mills often generate significant heat that can “burn” the flour, damaging enzymes and vitamins. Stone milling preserves the natural state of the grain, including the essential oils.
Can this machine be used for splitting lentils?
Yes. By adjusting the gap between the stones to be slightly larger than the seed diameter, the ADDAMS Stone Mill is exceptionally effective for hulling and splitting red lentils, yellow peas, and fava beans.
How often do the stones need to be maintained?
The composite stones used by ADDAMS are extremely hard-wearing. Maintenance (stone dressing) is typically only required after hundreds of tons of processing, depending on the abrasiveness of the crop.
Is the machine suitable for gluten-free products?
Absolutely. We offer stainless steel housing options that are easy to sanitize between batches, making it an ideal choice for facilities processing gluten-free ancient grains like Buckwheat, Quinoa, and Millet.
